April 2008
Spring Surprises
We love spring for its beauty in nature and also for the constant surprises that make an appear-ance outdoors. We’ll learn about the resurgence of plants and of baby animals born in spring. We’ll plant seeds and look forward to the arrival of our caterpillars, which we’ll observe as they transform into butterflies.
CURRICULUM
The colors of the month of April are yellow and purple, the nursery rhyme is “Rain, Rain, Go Away”, and our Bible story is “Jesus’ Resurrection”.
In Mrs. Dallas's class . . .
Spring has sprung and we are eagerly observing the changes of our world around us.
We are working on our pencil grips and writing our names every day. We enjoy taking breaks from our play to complete our desk work. As always, we continue to practice good manners and kind actions toward our classmates.
We are hoping to visit the supermarket in the near future to further our classroom discussion on healthy food choices. Details to follow.
Thanks to all who supported our Lenten project. We collected $6.60 for the American Red Cross.

have you noticed we’re starting to resemble kindergarteners?? We look like them, work like them, play like them and THINK like them. Soon we will BE one of them!
Our skills are advancing to a new level. We’re following directions better than before, anticipating “what’s next” and solving problems using creative thinking; all leading us toward kindergarten!

Spanish is Fun
Our monthly Spanish language lesson is expanding our vocabulary into categories of colors, numbers, family members, foods and objects. We’re com-bining words and adding a few verbs and greetings along the way.
May 1st Class Outings
On Thursday, May 1st, each class will visit a special destination.
Our Three Year-Old class will visit Genuardi’s in Newtown to tour the various food sections with good nutrition in mind. We’ll learn about the importance of eating foods from a variety of food groups.
Our Pre-Kindergarten class will visit the Churchville Nature Center to learn Environmental Awareness. We plan take a nature walk with a naturalist guide to see plants and animals in their habitats, then see some reptiles indoors. This event will cost $5.00 per student. Parents will be asked to drop off students directly at Nature Center on Churchville Lane, and pick them up afterward at that location. Schedule and directions will be provided.
For Our Special Moms
Please mark your calendar for Thursday, May 8th for Advent Preschool’s annual Mother’s Day Tea. All moms are invited to join us from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m for this special celebration.
Please make this day special for your preschooler by arranging for childcare for his/her siblings. Students should arrive at 9:00 a.m., as usual to allow us time to prepare for the tea. Thank you!
